Foster Homes ~ after a transport temporary foster homes are often needed to help house the dogs for the short period they are going through medical exams, spay/neuter surgeries and/or further evaluation. Duration of stay is usually not longer than 1-2 weeks maximum, often just a few days. Please keep in mind most transport dogs will need immediate help with housebreaking and crate training.

 

Bathing/”Spa treatments”~ immediately following a transport we always need people who are willing to get wet and dirty helping to clean up the new recruits and get them ready for their big adventure of a new home. Coats need bathed, nails need trimmed and ears are often unspeakably dirty- yahoo!! Depending on number of dogs transported, we are often involved at the “spa” for an average of 1-2 hours!

 

Walks and exercise ~ if dogs are not housed in foster homes; they really benefit and greatly appreciate the opportunity to get “out and about” for a sniff session and leg stretch. Volunteers willing to stop and take transport dogs for an exercise session are much appreciated. They promise to be flexible and appreciative of any time you can spare in your busy day, so 10 minutes to as long as you want is quite alright with them!

 

Fundraising and Public Relations ~ Being a fledgling organization it is important for us to be able to get out and about in the community and help spread the word about who we are and what we are all about! If you are good with people and would like to spread the word about our outreach program and/or the great transport dogs we have, this option is for you! Any and all creative ideas are welcome as well!

 

Professional services ~ If you want to help but are not the type of person who wants to be licked to death or get muddy paw prints on your jeans, we can still use your help~ most any vocation can be put to good use! Computer knowledge for help with this website, insurance, law, accounting, etc. We are always looking for good sources of information to help this non-profit grow. Please let us know if you have any ideas or talents you think would be an asset to us!
